Job Description

ScribeEMR is currently looking for a Certified Medical Coder/Biller to join our Woburn, MA office. You will be responsible to oversee the overall functions of daily operations of the coding team to ensure maximization of quality of work and cash flow while improving customer relations. Our ideal candidate will not only manage a team of medical coders will also be actively coding as well. This is a M/F full-time position with presence required in the office.

What will you bring to the table? Strong managerial, healthcare background, leadership and business skills, including the availability to produce and present detailed billing activities reports. Must have a thorough understanding of medical terminologies, implementation proven stats, and revenue cycle.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the daily operations of the coding team on customer-specific EMR system.
  • Perform periodic audits/reviews.
  • Ensures compliance with Medical Coding Authorities such as AAPC, AHIMA regulations.
  • Development, training, and monitoring of staff for the successful performance of job duties.
  • Ensure appropriate implementation of written policies and procedures that govern the accounting functions of the practice/Hospital.
  • Monitor coding work and oversees coders quality, productivity and turnaround time.
  • Manage, identify and solve day to day operational issues.
  • Provide leadership to coding staff.
  • Evaluate and educate the Coding on rules and regulations of coding authorities.
  • Coordinates and performs quality review of coding/abstracting and analyzes clinical case mix.
  • Providing direct feedback to a Doctor and or to Practice administrator regularly via conference call and WebEX etc.

Requirements :

  • Experience with EMR software (EPIC, Cerner, ECW, Medent etc.)
  • Preferred a minimum of 3 year’ supervisory or management experience over staff.
  • Experience in medical terminology, insurance benefits, and appeal processes
  • Strong implementation skills (onboarding new customers)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as you will be speaking with Doctor’s, scribers, as well as other representatives, and/or medical staff on a weekly basis
  • Build and maintain a professional relation with clients
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, MS Office-Word, Excel
  • Must maintain and meet HIPAA standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent organizational skills and must be detailed oriented
  • Strong computer and typing skills
  • Outstanding listening skills
  • Positive, friendly, approachable disposition
  • Ability to work with multiple priorities
  • Experience working with an offshore team is a big plus
  • 20% travel

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred.
  • AHIMA CCS or CPC certification required.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) experience required.
  • Working Knowledge of Medical Coding Softwares such as 3M, Optum Encoder Pro required.

Job Description

ScribeEMR, Inc is seeking a motivated, energetic, experienced Medical Scribe professional to join our team out of our Woburn, MA office. You are a motivated individual who will be performing documentation in our EMR systems, partnering with assigned providers to collect live data with the purpose to deliver the pinnacle of efficient patient care on providers behalf. This is NOT a remote position. You must reside and be authorized to work in the United State.

Under the direct supervision and presence (remotely) of the Practitioner (Physician and/or Mid-Level Provider), the Medical Scribe provides annotation, under their own profile, in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) of any dictated, written, or verbally communicated information for the treatment of patients following all local, state and federal regulations/guidelines for documentation. The Medical Scribe will be responsible for clearly recording each patient’s symptoms, history, physical exam and documenting the diagnosis.

Responsibilities:

  • Remotely be available and listen to the physician and/or mid-level provider in the patient examination area in order to transcribe findings in real time as the provider evaluates the patient.
  • Documents the review of systems (ROS) and physical examination as given by the patient and communicated by the provider.
  • Transcribes under the direction of the provider, patient orders, including laboratory tests, imaging tests, etc.
  • Completes the procedure note on behalf of the provider as directed.
  • Looks up pertinent past medical records at the direction of the provider.
  • Enters documentation on patient progress as directed by provider.
  • Lists proper diagnosis as well as any discharge/follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as dictated by the provider.
  • Reviews the record and verifies that the documentation requirements have been met for the designated code assigned by the provider.
  • Follows documentation compliance standards.
  • Assures that the Electronic Health Record is complete and that all pertinent documentation requirements are met, including the diagnosis, disposition and patient education interventions.
  • Ensures the provider reviews the Electronic Health Record for accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain a mutually respectful working relationship with all providers.
  • Available for provider concerns and questions and is ready to assist in the documentation at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience working with medical providers and allied health professionals.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.
  • You must have a typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
  • Prior experience working with Epic and/or multiple EMR systems such as but not limited to HPI, Medical Hx, ROS, PE, MDM, assessment and Plan, CPT, etc.
  • Any certification as a medical scribe is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented and strive to constantly improve knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be a team player and willing to communicate with other scribes.
  • Broad knowledge of various EMR systems.
  • Technology savvy, responsible, confident, and self-motivated.

Summary

Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of designated projects to ensure the goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed time frames. Assists Implementation and Project manager with active projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and modifies project plan documentation and staffing requirements for multiple projects.
  • Schedules and coordinates project team meetings. Prepares agendas, materials, presentations, and necessary equipment. Records and distributes minutes or notes and follow up actions. Follows up with team members to ensure actions are completed according to the timeline.
  • Compiles data and prepares regular and ad hoc reports and presentations. Distributes project reports and documents as directed. Monitors and tracks project documents and finances. Maintains project document files and records by established procedures.
  • Tracks and reports on project status and progress identify and resolve obstacles to ensure that the project is on track with determined timelines. Acts as a liaison and resource for multidisciplinary team members. Communicates to client groups and stakeholders and responds to requests for data and information.
  • Collaborates with the project manager and team to identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and outcomes. Documentation, Document Management, Ad Hoc projects both client and internally based.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or equivalent required; BA in Healthcare Administration, Business, or relevant area preferred.
  • Two or more years of project coordination experience with at least one year of experience in a healthcare or related setting.
  • Ability to be flexible and embrace change to help make the business successful.
  • Learns quickly and independently in the context of an activity; seeks opportunities to extend and deepen learning.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and assist in project management.
